Roadblocks and extra tasks

This article presents how Sitedrive supports the management of roadblocks and extra tasks in web and mobile

Roadblocks and extra tasks are reported both in web and mobile.

  • Roadblocks are meant to be critical obstacles which prevent work to be completed and thus they should be considered critical.
  • Extra/additional task on the other hand are more or less notes for the crews about unfinished work or additional work that is required.

When used with a browser, usually by site managers & supervisors, users can easily see which work packages contain roadblocks from the red dot icon with exlamation mark. Details of the roadblocks can be viewed from the work package summary that opens by Alt + clicking on the work package.

All the roadblocks and extra/additional tasks are listed in the Notifications view. Here site admin users can also edit the deadlines, assign teams and responsible managers, view details and delete or mark roadblocks and extra tasks as complete.

For the field workers and subcontractor team leads that do not use the web version, the roadblocks are visible in the Sitedrive mobile app.

  • Crews are encouraged to use the mobile app to report roadblocks and additional tasks related to work packages which have been assigned to them.

  • Additionally crews see roadblocks and extra tasks that have been assigned to them on their own mobile feed based on the deadline.
  • Site admins see all tasks, including roadblocks and extra tasks, in their mobile list

In mobile new blockers (default) and extra tasks are reported with the purple square with a white "+" -icon.

If the reporter knows who is responsible for completing the roadblock or extra task, the responsible team can be assigned, but it's not mandatory. A written description can be added to clarify the issue or task to be done.

The blocker and extra task functionality can be used in many ways, so we strongly recommend each project team to discuss what are the criteria for reporting, what details should be filled and how blockers and extra tasks are managed in- and out of meetings.
