This article tells you how to create new schedules in Sitedrive
In Sitedrive, construction projects are managed as sites and project phases. The site typically represents the construction site or a high-level project, while a project phase focuses on planning and overseeing the execution of a specific construction phase or ensemble.
- For more details about projects and project phases, click here: Site and Project Phase.
In Sitedrive, every schedule is implemented in a project phase. Before creating a new schedule, both the site and the project phase must be established.
- For more information on setting up a project, visit here: Creating a new site and project phase.
Project phases generally include only one schedule. This single schedule can be edited and managed via the schedule views created for the project phase.
- For additional information about schedule views, click here: Location breakdown and schedule views
1. Creating a new schedule view
Press +Add button on the schedule views page of your site. Enter a name for your schedule view and select the location breakdown based on the level at which you wish to plan your tasks.
2. Click on the schedule view
By clicking on the schedule view, you can access and review your schedule according to the selected location breakdown.
3. Adding Schedule Tasks
In Sitedrive, tasks scheduled for construction projects are organized into work packages. A work package represents a set of tasks intended to be completed by a single team.
New work packages can be created in the Gantt, Line of balance and Takt. This article will focus on creating a general schedule in the Gantt view.
- For more information about the Line of Balance, click here: Line of balance.
- For details on the Takt view, click here: Creating Work Packages in the Takt.
Option 1:
New work packages can be created by typing the name of the work package in an empty row and pressing Enter.
Work packages can be indented to place them under a specific grouping by pressing the Tab key. To outdent them, simply press Shift + Tab.

Option 2:
Schedule tasks can also be imported from an Excel file. Klick on the Import schedule tasks button from the top bar.
Drag or select your Excel file.
The Excel file must contain at least the name of the work package. Optionally, you can also import the team responsible for the work package, as well as the start and end dates. For example:
The information doesn't need to be in any particular order as Sitedrive will ask where the corresponding information is located in your Excel.
Choose the corresponding columns.
When you are happy with the selection, select Import schedule tasks.
Option 3:
Schedules can also be created using templates and the work package library. For more information, please visit: Templates and Work Package Library.
4. Defining Work Package Areas
Next, you will specify the areas where the work packages will be repeated. The areas for the work packages can be defined from the three-dot menu by clicking on "Define Areas."
A window will then open, allowing you to select the areas where you want the work package to be repeated.
After selecting the areas, click on the "Create Work Packages for Areas" option. This action will generate a separate work package for each selected area, and these area-specific work packages will inherit all their information from the sum work package.
5. Refining Work Package Schedules
At this stage, location-specific work packages have been created based on the designated areas within the schedule view. It is now important to begin fine-tuning the start and end dates for each work package.
When editing the schedule, it is beneficial to zoom the view to an appropriate level. You can zoom in or out using the Ctrl key in combination with the mouse scroll wheel, or by using a two-finger pinch gesture on the touchpad.
To zoom the calendar view, hover your mouse over the calendar section and adjust the view from year and month levels down to day and hour levels. The height of the bars in the Gantt chart can be adjusted by moving your mouse over the left margin of the chart and dragging it up or down.
If needed, you can also modify the browser's zoom settings to create more or less space in the view. Increasing the row height will display the location and team associated with each work package. Note that the location will only be shown for the sub-packages of the summary work package that were created by defining their respective areas.
The schedule for work packages can be modified in several ways:
- By editing the start and end date cells in the table view of the Gantt chart.
- By dragging the work package to the desired time slot in the calendar view.
- By adjusting the start or end points of the work package directly within the calendar view.
Any changes made to the summary work package will automatically affect its sub-packages, and conversely, modifications to the sub-packages will update the duration of the summary work package if those changes impact its overall start or end dates.
